Gmail wants its users to take control of Inbox by introducing new inbox which automatically groups incoming email messages into their respective categories and shows them as different customizable tabs. Gmail New inbox to offer five optional tabs: Primary, Social, Promotions, Updates and Forums. This feature is still rolling out and will be available to users on desktop and mobile in the coming weeks. Watch the video below to see the new Gmail inbox in action.
Itamar Glad, Gmail Product Manager it says in a blog post “On the desktop, the new inbox groups your email into categories that appear as different tabs. You simply choose which categories you want and voilà! Your inbox is organized in a way that lets you see what’s new at a glance and decide which emails you want to read when. “
Customize the new Gmail inbox to your liking: With Gmail automatically sending messages to tabs, if you want a message to appear in a different tab, drag and drop it to that tab.
Each starred message appears on the “Main” tab, and you can also choose to have the sender always appear on a specific tab.
Switching to current priority inbox style new inbox style: Don’t like the new Gmail inbox?, Google won’t force it on you. You can switch to Priority Inbox by selecting “Priority Inbox” from the Inbox menu on the left. As you already know, Priority Inbox offers sections like Important and unread, Starred, and Everything else.
How to know if the new inbox is available for your Gmail account?: Keep checking the Gear menu (settings menu) for the “Configure inbox” option to try it out.
