How to get Chromebook guest browsing in Google Chrome?

For Chromebook users, Google offers visitor navigation option similar to incognito mode, does not save browsing history when you close all open guest windows, however, all downloaded files will be preserved. Guest Browsing is enabled by default on Chromebook, if interested, you can try the same on Chrome browser, for that you needed to be using Canary or a developer build.

Enable Chromebook Guest Browsing in Google Chrome

To test/enable guest browsing in Chrome

1. Visit Chrome://flags in the browser address bar and enable the two flags below

Activate new profile management systemand Enable GAIA profile name and icon.

2. Restart the browser.

3. Now the profile switcher appears in the top left corner of Chrome, click it and click Visitor Browsing, which opens a Guest Browsing window and displays the message you are browsing as a guest.

With Guest Browsing, The pages you view in this window will not appear in your browser history and will not leave other traces, such as cookies, on your computer after you close all open visitor windows. Any files you download will be preserved, however.

To get out of it, you can just use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Shift+Q or click To go out clicking on Profile Switcher.

Update December 24, 2014: You no longer need this as Google has added a new user menu to switch users and access guest mode, also known as guest browsing mode.

To access Guest browsing mode, click the user icon > Switch Person > Click ‘Browse as Guest’ (see screenshot below).
