And now Chromium-based Opera has three release channels: Developer, Next and Stable. Unlike the Canary, Opera developer allows to define it as the default browser.

1. Click on the Opera button and in its Menu, select Settings
2. Under ‘Default Browser’, click ‘Make Opera Developer my default browser’, instantly the browser shows it is the default.
