After PowerToys Definitions, Microsoft to update the PowerRename UI with a fluent design per Windows 11. The company is currently working on redesigning the Rename utility. The UI changes to include mica material and fluent Segoe icons.
When was the last time you tried to rename a large number of files? There are free and paid tools available on the internet for the same, Micorsoft allows you to do this on Windows 10 and Windows 11 with the PowerRename utility.
Microsoft PowerToys comes with a collection of utilities that improve your productivity, PowerRename is one of them. As the name implies, it allows you to rename a batch of files.
All you need to select the files and right click and use the PowerRename option to open the utility. You will be allowed to replace multiple filenames with certain text.
Using PowerRename is very easy, try it if you haven’t already.
Micorsoft is already updating its Windows 11 apps to match the look and feel of the new operating system that will be released on October 5th. for Windows insiders first.

Those design changes can be part of PowerRename to make it part of the look and feel of Windows 11.
- Moving away from the checkbox only and using the other means when appropriate
- add logical groupings of settings
- Mica material and Segoe fluent icons
- Based on @dnknn introducing the concept of “Bookmarks”. Clicking the button would show a list of bookmark shortcuts created. Updating a setting would show a “Save as bookmark” button that allows you to name the bookmark and save it. Bookmark management (eg renaming or deleting) would happen in the settings.
