VLC 2.0.4 is a major update with Opus support and various bug fixes

VLC Media Player 2.0.4 for Windows/Mac/Linux was released by Videolan fixing over 100 bugs and adding 300 commits over VLC 2.0.3. This release introduces support for Opus codec and offers several improvements and fixes for playback. VLC 2.0.4 is a major update with security and stability improvements, we recommend upgrading to this version.

VLC 2.0.4 new features, improvements

  • Improvements and fixes for playback on Blu-Ray, DVD, HLS, Ogg and MKV files; but also for Youtube, Vimeo, Koreus and Soundcloud.
  • Wallpaper mode for Windows has been fixed, it will now work smoothly, which means you can set video playback as desktop wallpaper from VLC’s Video menu.
  • Adds Opus codec support, including multichannel and streams, and MSS playback via DMO libraries.
  • Fixes various issues including audio device selection, Qt and Mac OS interface, security issues
